This foundational workshop provides a comprehensive overview of lymphedema and venous disease management. Attendees will review the anatomy and physiology of the vascular and lymphatic systems, discuss chronic venous insufficiency and lymphedema, and learn the principles of gradient compression therapy.
The course covers garment types—including warped-knit, circular-knit, flat-knit, adjustable wraps, and foam-based options—along with indications, contraindications, and patient selection. Participants will practice basic custom measuring techniques and gain practical knowledge on donning, wear and care instructions to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
After this workshop, students should be able to:
- Explain basic Anatomy and Physiology of the vascular and lymphatic systems
- Discuss Chronic Venous Insufficiency and Lymphedema
- Discuss gradient compression stockings
- Determine appropriate patients and indications/contraindications for Warped-Knit, Circular-Knit, Flat-Knit garments, adjustable wrap garments, and foam based garments.
- Demonstrate appropriate basic “Landmark” custom measuring technique
- Discuss appropriate donning and wear/care instructions.
